Recently, I made a visit to the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum with my wife and son. It is a place that has been a second home to my son, our aviation enthusiast, so we have visited it many times over the past 16 years that we have lived in Ottawa. This was a special trip as we were there for his 20th birthday, an appropriate place to celebrate his love of planes and all things aeronautical.

The museum has evolved and grown into an impressive place over the years we’ve been going there. The “Space” part of its displays is relatively new. One of the things you can do in this very interactive part of the museum is to scroll through photos taken by astronauts from the space station. As I did so, I was struck by the power of the images, not just because of the views of earth from space, but because of the colors and shapes, bold and subtle lines, and the juxtaposition of elements that seem to have been put in place by an artist. I felt, at times, like I was going through a gallery of some amazing abstract art.

Instead of re-posting all these images here, I’ve decided to take the lazy route and provide a link to the NASA website where you can see the Top  15 Images of 2015, taken from the space station. The site describes in detail what you’re seeing. But just take a moment to enjoy each image for the work of art it is on it’s own. I was reminded that the very place we call home is a Masterpiece beyond compare.
