A Year of Creating Dangerously, Day 160: Happy Belated, Frank Lloyd Wright!

There are not many architects who are household names… That may sound like the start of a bad joke but it wasn’t intentional.

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) may be at the top of that short list of architects who have made it to “household name” status. Yesterday was the famous Wisconsonite’s birthday (which makes him 150, the same age as Canada!). In its biography of Wright, the website Artsy says that he “punctuated nature with a capital “N”, placed great importance on the unity of man and nature and strived to compose environments where the architecture and land formed a unified whole”. This is not more apparent than in his most famous work, Fallingwater, the home he designed to sit atop a waterfall in Pennsylvania.
